Djordje Vuckovic

M.S., Civil and Environmental Engineering, Stanford University, 2018
B.A., Chemistry, Columbia University, 2015

Djordje is a PhD candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering, originally from Belgrade, Serbia. He holds an MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford and a BA in Chemistry from Columbia. In his research at Stanford, Djordje is using his knowledge of analytical and biochemistry to answer questions at the intersection of environmental toxicology and marine biology. He is currently studying the mechanism of sunscreen toxicity to sea anemones, hoping to guide development of coral-safe sunscreens.

His research before coming to Stanford includes design and synthesis of a nanoparticle-based material for carbon capture, design of a quantum dot sensor for pathogen detection in drinking water, study of zero-valent iron nanoparticle transport properties for groundwater remediation, and study of atom-transfer radical polymerization kinetics for improving reaction yields.
